Biology

So, taking notes during the lecture portions went well, I believe I understood most of it. The problem came whenever we went to lab. I guess I should explain a little better. Well, last week we planted mustard seeds in little containers. Simple right? Well this week we were told that any plants with a stem color other than purple had to be removed and we would have to replant. This was because we wanted the purple stem genetics for our experiment that we will do later. Well that's all fine and dandy. We had no plants with a different stem color so my group didn't have to change anything. However, what we did have was a plant that was growing much too slow, so what did we have to do? Remove it because it won't survive. So we had to plant another one. This will take till next week to show us if it is okay, or if we will have to remove it. All that sounds peachy right? Well the next project was certainly not. We had dead bees in a container and had to take one. Simple. Then we had to get a toothpick and glue. Easy. The hard part? Poking a hole in the butt of the bee to glue it to the toothpick with. Gross! But all in all, rather simple. Just have to remember to wash your hands. Otherwise, well, it's unsanitary and I don't know how you feel about having dead animal cells on your hands, but I don't like it.

My Magical World

Your harsh words bring the rain,
The drops upon my hand show the pain,
I hear the pitter patter softly there,
This miracle of Earth's tears I will not share.

The window is my barrier between reality and home,
For the outside is where I am known,
Among the stormy clouds and the wind,
Blowing my hair back as if I had sinned.

The drops hitting like fire upon my skin,
Burning red marks show where I have been,
Looking up to the gray covered sky,
I wonder how this life has passed me by.

The air moving through my hair like a brush,
The caress on my face is a gentle touch,
The rain hits my cheeks ever so gently,
As if to say "You were the one who sent me."

Darkness dancing around my touch,
Surrounding and consuming too much,
The stars within the dark lighting up like fireflies,
Breaking the darkness and lighting up the skies.

Sunlight making a dress of my raggedy clothes,
As I twirl it is sunlight bright enough for shows,
The rain dancing off and creating a rainbow,
The dress taking me places I could never go.

Dancing on the dark side of the moon,
Lighting it up with the sunlit dress soon,
The galaxy is watching this sight,
As the elements learn to take flight.

The warmth is replaced by a salty smell,
The ocean water is beneath my feet like a soft bell,
The water caressing my feet,
Where the earth and water meet.

Walking back towards the shore,
The dancing sky of twilight burning in my core,
The sounds of wild creatures filling my ears,
A wilderness of creatures from wild fears.

Birds soaring overhead,
Singing a song soft and sweet as if said,
Tigers roaring out into the changing scene,
You wouldn't guess they aren't mean.

The sunlight dress touching the ground,
Making plants grow without a sound,
Flowers blooming behind my back,
This beauty no one can hack.

Birds beneath my arms pulling me into the air,
The sky is a place we can share,
Clouds racing by like streaks on a painting,
The wings beneath me vanish me and I am falling.

Laughter chiming from my heart,
This world is what I have created with one start,
Landing softly back in my kitchen with the coffee,
This is the world that only I can see.
